To begin, I have a ProVari and ProVari Mini, both version V2.5. They are Stainless Steel and very nice. They will produce a lot of power. They can be repaired, and are a long term investment. However, they are very heavy, and somewhat clunky to set voltage, and check atomizer resistance, and only have a 510 connector.
This brings me to the eVic. It is light, uses an 18650 battery, and has more features then you will ever need. It is easy to set, and I can see the settings for voltage, watts, the atomizer ohms, and remaining battery on one screen. And, I can screw on an eGo-C head with no issue.
I guess the downside for some may be the limit of 11 watts. But that really isn't an issue for me, as I rarely go above 7.5 watts.
All in all, a great unit. Even though Joyetech did lower the watt limit from 15 to 11 watts with the update, that will probably keep the dependability high.
I like toys, and while the ProVari is a work of art, the eVic is a workhorse, that I use more often. It's just easier the carry around the house.
