  1. Loving the SID

    Posted by skram3 on 9th Feb 2014

I received my SID in the mail about a month ago, and I find this thing is by my side 24/7. I have a couple cartos and tanks and its nice to easily change between each and get the best vape. I upgraded from the 1100mah eGo Twist and couldn't be happier. Once you get used to the menu it's a great MOD. It is a little heavier than what I'm used to, but it keeps you from setting it down and forgetting it. I would definitely recommend this product, in fact my friend that is brand new to vaping just picked one up yesterday as his first piece!

  2. Loving vv/vw SID

Posted by Clayton Midkiff on 7th Feb 2014

Have had my SID for about 2 days now and can't believe the difference that vv/vw can make. Product is smaller than I expected and performs exactly as advertised. Very light and easy to carry out and about. I will update this post at 1 month and hopefully one year.

  3. I love my SID

Posted by Anna Pomeroy on 7th Jan 2014

This MOD is great. It works better than any mods I have tried so far. The commands are easy to follow. Being able to manipulate voltage and power is awesome.

  4. Disappointed with batteries for this product..

Posted by Dawn Friedman on 8th Dec 2013

I always order from here.. Best site for shipping and customer service.. However I purchased two SID's.. I am only using one till the extra batteries arrive but I keep getting low volume on a Sanyo 18650B Battery - 3400mAH.. I am getting less than a days use.. My advice is to stock up on batteries.. They usually take overnight to charge so right now it is inconvenient.. Hoping to be more satisfied once the extra batteries arrive..

  5. Good First MOD

Posted by Dennis Stanworth on 6th Dec 2013

Wanted to add that this does not come with a battery! Buzzkill when you realize you forgot to order a battery charger and you have to wait for shipment. The MOD works killer though! One thing, the plastic lens over the LCD display popped lose when I dropped it, now it rattles.

  6. This is a Great MOD

Posted by Dennis on 23rd Nov 2013

I like it, my first MOD. Love that I can crank up the voltage and blow huge clouds of smoke. This unit is not that big like some of the flashy MOD's. Also long battery life. If you are still using the basic ego batteries - Go for it, pull the trigger and purchase a MOD. I have always used a vivi nova but now I think I will get a bottom feed for this. I would reccomend this unit. My Freedom Smokes Rocks! I called this in Wednesday at 3pm (cut-off is 2pm)and asked if they could ship the same day, They got it in the mail and had it in two days to California. Love the customer service.

  7. Excellent, does what it is advertised to do

Received it in 3 days (in cal), ordered with the battery option listed on the site. Works like a charm.

  8. Love this thing

As good as a provari for a third of the price. Can't beat that !!

  9. Im impressed!

Posted by Ian Mazursky on 31st Oct 2013

I don't write a lot of reviews on PVs but i have to for the SID.
The word that comes to mind is WOW!
I have 3 Provari's and the SID is actually better on a number of fronts (i never thought id say that...ever).

    1. The weight, with a battery feels at least half the weight of a Provari with an 18650 and extender cap.
    2. VW, we all know the Provari doesn’t offer VW, honestly not a big deal, Volts x Amps = Watts, its just convenient to have it.
    3. OLED display, the SID has it, the Provari has 2 7 segment LED's. To me, for the price...well come on ProVape!
    4. Probably the best part of the SID, whatever frequency they are using for the PWM and regulation is heads above what the Provari uses.
I can hear the modulation used in all of my Provari's, its loud (to me).
The high pitched squeal is a bit annoying but the SID is silent (squeal wise).
The flavor from my ProTank's and DBox's on the SID is a lot better at the same relative voltage then on the Provari.
Its not a little bit better, it’s a lot better!
The Provari also seems to burn the wicks a little easier, maybe the regulation in the Provari airs on the high side? I really should stick these on my Oscilloscope and see whats really going on.

    5. As far as i can tell the battery life is also a bit more.
    6. The SID can take the AW IMR 18650 battery i have for my Provari's.
They fit perfectly into the tube, no sticking and the raised + top isn't a problem.
The cool thing is that the SID comes apart in 2 section, the top control unit and the bottom battery also cover comes off.
So you can insert or remove your battery from the top or bottom.
    No more fumbling around!

There are a few other minor things but onto the not so good of the SID.
    1. Its feels cheap, the metal that makes up the tube is thin.
The color coating is also thin and has no chance of standing up to much abuse.
Though the Provari's coating, even though it’s a lot thicker has scratched off in a few places. These aren’t fine art pieces so a few scratches are a badge of honor in my book!
Now if the SID could be produced with a better and thicker metal, coating and some polishing of UI, it would totally kill off the Provari.
Id be willing to spend a little more on it for those improvements.
    2. On the 2 SIDs i bought, the plastic window over the OLED display came with a good sized scratch. Not worth getting it replaced and its on the side away from the text so it doesn’t interfere with the display.
The point is that it came from the factory that way, QC isn't the best.
    3. Whoever programmed the micro controller in the SID needs a lesson in user interface design.
The text that is displayed when you fire the SID disappears almost as fast as you remove your finger from the button.
Though it does persist longer when you make changes to the settings.
The point of showing your current power setting (VV, VW, Ohm, Batt) is that you can look at it to know what you have setup. If it disappears before you can actually see it...not a good design.
    4. The only way to see the Atomizer Resistance is to set the display (when you fire it) to Resistance instead of VV, VW or Batt. There should have been a separate menu for checking the Resistance.
    5. The finish on the Atty connection cap is a little rough, it catches on the bottom of my Protanks and DBox's. I'm probably going to sand it down a little to keep the tanks from shaving it.
    6. Not a problem but a funny one, read the text on bottom of the batter cap.
Looks like something was lost in translation.

    Summary:
The Provari's are great, i love them but they are way to expensive and are fast becoming outdated for the feature set.

All in all i really love the SIDs and will be buying a few more.
The real advantage of the SID is the cost, weight and the better PWM.
UI on both the SID and Provari could be improved so it’s a wash on that.
Having a PV that your not worried about banging around and can be replaced for $50, that’s not to heavy and gives better flavor, cant think of a reason not to buy an SID over the Provari.
